Red Numbers

Even though we had a morning tee time the day started off very hot and humid, so we still had to stay very mentally tough in the adverse conditions. Fortunately because of our morning tee time we were able to finish our round before the storms came and suspended play for the rest of the day.
I started off the morning by finding a 1969 quarter and I gave it to Richy and said this is our lucky quarter and the "69" on the quarter is our target score for the day. Five birdies and 2 bogeys later we found ourselves sitting at 3 under par with 2 holes to play, knowing that we needed to go par par to shoot our target number. Richy made a good 2 putt from 30 feet on 17 to save his par. After an errant tee shot on 18 he played a great recovery shot hitting a 5 iron from 211 yards out from the left woods to the greenside bunker. Richy made a nice bunker shot to 4 feet and made the put to shot our 69, which was our quarter number.
The medal play portion of the tournament is now over and it was a huge success for "team" Werenski. We finished tied for 6th out of 156. Now a whole new tournament begins with the 64 players who qualified for match play. I'll let you know how we do.
